Regardless of what is going on at this time of year, the most exciting thing is the NHL entry draft where players are drafted by NHL teams. This year was no exception with the draft in Los Angles, California.
The big question this year was who would go first overall. Would it be Taylor Hall from Windsor or Tyler Seguin from Plymouth? Right up to the time that Edmonton announced Taylor Hall as the first pick overall, the fans in the Staples Centre in Los Angles or those watching elsewhere were on the edge of their seats. Dixie took in the event. President Grant Furlane attended the first round compliments of the Anaheim Ducks.
It was a great event with many surprises including picks from the ONTARIO JUNIOR A HOCKEY LEAGUE.Grant Furlane found time to meet up with Long Time NHL Player and Asst. Coach of the Atlanta Thrashers – Steve Weeks. Mr. Weeks may be making appearances to Beehives home soon!
All in all, it was a great experience and it was great to see the OHJAL well represented in the draft.
